In today’s society, it is still hard to be yourself. You are constantly told to settle down; become more adult like and step away from your inner child.
It is hard for me to do that. My personality is unique as it is; on one hand I am extremely compassionate, spiritual, intuitive, and philosophical. And on the other hand, I have an abstract and surrealist type of mind, that is mixed with a gothic whimsical “Alice in Wonderland” childhood. I am always trying to show others that it is okay to be different and they should not be afraid to show who they really are.
I believe that you don’t need to shove a certain part of your personality in order to grow up. There is no reason for that. Instead, find a balance between your adult personality and inner child. I’m always using my imagination to make it through the day at work and it definitely helps keep me sane, because I get everything done and I am still being true to myself.
Don’t let corporate society tell you to leave your inner child and be a full adult; you will become depressed, I’ve seen it time and time again. Just find a balance between your worlds.
