Today’s Beauty Standards

In our society, there’s supposed to be a list of what the beauty standards are.
The things on this list include straightening your hair, wearing makeup, have the perfect body, be tall, no tattoos, wear provocative clothing, among many other things. But surprisingly enough, not everyone looks like this nor do they dress provocatively.
I definitely do not meet the modern standards of beauty.
My hair is combination of beachy-ringlets. On top of that, I don’t wear makeup and I have a petite athletic body that a friend describes it as a gymnast body. My sense of style is completely different from everyone around me, it’s a combination of bohemian/minimalist/whimsical/athletic. I rather wear a pair of sweatpants with a tank top and hoodie, or a lace top with tank top layers and pair of black jeans. On top of that, I have four tattoos. Whereas, if a modern woman has tattoos, then she would be considered trashy.
Our society has gotten so messed up with beauty standards. I would just like to say that everyone is beautiful. You don’t have to straighten your hair or even curl it to be considered beautiful. If you don’t want to wear makeup, then don’t. If you want to have tattoos, then get them. But do make sure that your tattoos have meaning. It’s better that way. In the end, be true to yourself and embrace your uniqueness. Everyone is beautiful in their own unique way. It is time to embrace your beauty.
