The picture in this post definitely represents who I am as a singer-songwriter. It represents my unique creative writing. It shows that I like to blend several worlds together.
I’ve been writing songs since I was a freshman in high school. My songs have always been a bit different from mainstream. Which is perfectly fine, due to the fact that I am not into much mainstream music.
In my songs, I blend Indie Rock, Soul, and Jazz together to create my own sound and own type of story telling. I love to sing my songs and have lots of fun. Singing and writing, on top of helping people, have always been my emotional and creative outlet. I’m able to be myself in my music. Just create songs that hopefully somehow someone will be able to connect on some level.
My musical influences include Etta James, JJAMZ, Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse, Sam Cooke, The Clientele, The June Brides, The Beatles, Peaches and Herb, Cat Power, Imogen Heap, Silver Apples. All of these musicians have inspired me in some way. Either by different sounds or creating my own writing method.
Everyone is completely different when it comes to music. You don’t have to be a songwriter, poet or singer in order to love music.
So my question to everyone is this… what type of music do you listen to? And why?
