We Are All Humans

Look at this beautiful couple. So happy. So in love. I can say that they have found happiness and love with each other, and that’s all that matters. I am happy for them.

It shouldn’t matter what race, age, religion, social status, wealth or language we speak define who we are as a person or who you love. Yet, even in today’s society we are constantly defined by everyone. And by everyone, I mean everyone. You will be defined by employers, relatives, friends, professors, co-workers, and media. But no one realizes that we are all humans, not rabid animals.

Everyone is defined by the color of their skin. It is sad that this is even occurring. Why should it matter that we have different skin colors? It shouldn’t. I’m mixed race and proud of it. I don’t let my race define who I am. We are all the same. We all have hearts. We all have souls. We all have minds. We all have blood pumping into our arteries. We are all humans.

Christians, Jewish, Islam, Buddhist, Catholic, Pagan. The list goes on and on. Whenever we fill out a paper, we have to fill out our affiliation with any religion. And once a person finds out they find out our religion, they suddenly start making stereotypical jokes. On top of that, everyone starts to assume that everyone affiliated with that religion is out to get the world. Not everyone that is affiliated with the religion is going to hurt you. Stop making stereotypical jokes about one another, they are not funny. It doesn’t matter what religion others are. We are all the same. We are all humans.

Once someone starts speaking in another language, everyone starts to get paranoid. Why should you get paranoid? There’s no reason to. I speak English, Italian, Spanish, Hebrew. I embrace different languages. I find them beautiful. It shouldn’t matter what language a person speaks. We are all the same. We are all humans.

Everyone looks down at children, thinking that they know nothing about the world. Yet, look at Malala. She’s the first young teenager to receive the Noble Peace Prize, the first young girl to stand up for education in the middle east and survive a bullet to the head. Do not underestimate children.
Love. Love is another thing that comes up in the age category. There are those who are attracted to younger people and there are those who are attracted to older people. I’m not ashamed to say that I find myself only attracted to older men. I’m almost 24, and find men who are 28 to 40 years old more attractive. That’s just who I am. We are all attracted to each other. We are all humans.

We are all the same on the inside. We all have hearts, soul, lives to live, love to give, friendships to make. We are all humans. So why should we be defined?
