Family Isn’t Always Blood

I love my younger brother, he’s my best friend and glad to have him in my life, but I can also say that I have very close friends that I consider siblings. On top of that, some of my parents friends are like aunts and uncles to me. They’ve been in my life since I was a baby and they are pretty awesome.

I’ve learned the hard way that family isn’t always blood. Yes, you may have cousins and aunts and uncles, but are you so distant from them because they have never been a part of your life and are only there due to bloodline. I have several family members who are just like that. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, but it is hard to say that they are family.

A family is made of people who you love and who love you. Someone who has been more like a brother or sister, aunt or uncle than just a friend. Family doesn’t always have to be blood, trust me. I don’t know what I would do without my family, blood or not. We are just a big happy, yet pain in each other’s butts, family.
Look around you, look at your close friends, do they act like a brother or sister would? Love them. Love both families, blood or not. It’s like having a giant family.
