An Herbalist Advice: Avena Sativa


     Avena Sativa, commonly known as oats, works well for those who have anxiety. I know, because I suffer from an anxiety disorder and this magic little herb calms me down relatively easy and quickly.
    I make tea out of this, but there are also two other methods to take this. But I recommend drinking tea, it feels nice going down the throat and it’s nice to have a cup of hot tea in the morning or at night.
    When retrieving the oat seeds, only get green or yellow colored seeds. Do not get any seeds that looks like chopped straws. The seeds are very strong. The typical dosage is 1 cup of tea every two hours. In making the tea, you will steep 1 to 2 teaspoons of seeds in 1 cup of of hot water for about 10 minutes.
   You could always create a tincture with this, and use 1/8 to 3 teaspoons. You could find capsule forms at local herbal stores. If you do use capsules, you will have to follow the recommended dosage.
