Being You

This painting by Renoir is unbelievably beautiful. It represents many women, just like myself. In fact, if you curl the hair, add scars and a tattoo on the back, it would pretty much be me.
I have that stomach, extra thickness in the back region, child bearing hips, thick thighs and calves, cellulite on my thighs and butt, and I’m petite. Yes, I work out and eat healthy, but genetically my body is designed to carry that extra weight for whenever I have children. Actually, women are designed to carry extra weight in general.

Many of you already know that I am very adamant about promoting healthy body imaging in the media and here on the internet. I believe that all men and women are beautiful. I believe that there should be diversity in all media outlets. I believe in a place where everyone is accepted and not made fun of on a daily basis. I believe that no matter what shape, size, color you may be; I’m going to see you as beautiful. But let’s remember one thing: beauty lies in the personality. If you have an amazing personality, then it will shine through and make you even more beautiful.

You don’t need to change yourself to fit in society. You don’t need to change yourself to attract someone. You don’t need to change yourself to be considered perfect. You are already perfect the way you are. You are perfectly imperfect. We all have flaws, it’s just a fact of life. But in order to be sane, we need to accept those flaws and embrace our uniqueness.
Take a step back, shimmy out of those clothes, look in the mirror and see how every inch of you is already beautiful.
