Write What You Know

There is a saying that goes, “Write what you know”. This applies to everyone, and when I first heard this saying as a child, I thought, “What is it that I know?” I thought about it and thought about it, then it hit me. I know about my spiritual path and know that there might be others who share the same beliefs, I know poems; I know about mythology, thriller, romance, history. I know about the environment, healing and protecting animals from harm. I even know about movies, what makes it a good movie, script review, actors, etc. These are the things that I know. These are the things that I write about. I write poems that range from historical based, all the way to romance. I share my holistic approach with all of you and show you how to take care of yourself with Mother Earth’s herbs, plants, water and animals. On top of that, I give you advice on how to cope with being introverted in an extroverted world, granted that sometimes it might seem silly to those who read my posts, but trust me their are those who are just like me who are extremely awkward in social settings and need advice on how to deal with such situations. I focus on what I know and focus on what my talents are. Writing. Writing is the only way I can communicate to all of you, every one of you from around the world who read my posts and come to find me and see what advice I have or to see what poem I have decided to share with you all. Writing is a mechanism for me, it is the only thing I know besides my abstract art, that I can fully communicate with you and feel like I am able to speak to hundreds of people without any of you seeing how red my face gets when I am around a large number of people. Writing is the only way I can fully let myself be vulnerable and let people in just a smidge. Writing is the one talent I think that I actually have and I like the fact that I am able to use it on this platform. I know to all of you extroverts who might be reading this and thinking “What is wrong with this woman?” But trust me, I have been an introvert my entire life. Don’t get me wrong, I can socialize when needed, but after an hour in a large setting I have the urge to go home or to the forest and get away from civilization, just so I can heal myself.
What is it that you write? What is it that you know?

I appreciate you spending some time and effort to put this informative article together.

I once again find myself personally spending way too much time both reading and commenting.
But so what, it was still worth it!
