One day you wake up and you come down with symptoms that seem similar to a very bad cold; however, it gets worse. All of a sudden you become exhausted, have a fever, short of breath, and have chest pains; you go to the physician and find out that you have pneumonia. There are numerous ways to go about this, you can either take the prescription from the physician, use Inula Helenium (Elecampane), or go straight to the hospital and be admitted (this is only in the case of you contracting bronchitis).

If you are to go the holistic route, Elecampane is one of the best herb and roots there is to use for a person who has pneumonia or even someone who has a persistent cough. Besides toning the lungs, the root is known for easing coughs, and having mild antibacterial effects. Elecampane is know for being bitter, which helps stimulate appetite and supports the digestion, this means you will get more from the food you will eat. The typical dosage for this root/herb is 2 to 3 cups of tea per day. Take one to two teaspoons of dried root in 1 cup of hot water for ten minutes. This is a delicious tea and you will begin to get better within a day or two. Caution: Do not use this while pregnant.

Just like everything else, if this persists and things get worse, please head to the nearest emergency room and be admitted, there is a high chance of you having bronchitis.
