Who doesn’t love a good snack? It is the afternoon, we are feeling a little hungry yet groggy at the same time, due to the fact that our energy levels have plummeted, and all we want is something to give us that boost to make it through the rest of the day. You head over to your snack cabinet and you look around to see what you can find, and all that is there are the copious amounts of candy bars, potato chips, and beef jerky in there. You are wanting to have a snack, yet at the same time you don’t feel like putting processed foods into your mouth. Thankfully, there are many healthy snacks that you can enjoy. A little reminder, these are in no particular order.

Cashews                                                     Veggies and Hummus
Apples                                                         Bananas
Grapefruit                                                Greek Yogurt and Berries
Almonds                                                    Olives and Pickles
Veggies with Guacamole                     Hard boiled eggs
Raisins                                                       Air popped popcorn
*Bananas with Peanut Butter            String Cheese
Pistachios                                                  Dark chocolate
Fresh fruit smoothies                           Clementines
Peaches                                                      Dried fruit
Cottage Cheese                                        Sunflower seeds
Oatmeal                                                      **Tuna on whole grain crackers

*If you are allergic to peanuts, you can substitute with soy and sunflower butters.
**If you have celiac disease or if you are just gluten intolerant, get the gluten free crackers at your local grocery store. They are the perfect substitute.

These are great healthy snacks that you can take to work with you, give to your kids to munch on at school or on road trips; and also great for when you are traveling as well (plane, train, etc.). Keep these snacks on hand at all times, that way you have a lot of different choices to choose from when that afternoon snack buzz hits you.
