I broke all of the rules
got in a car and drove far away
pressed my foot down harder to pick up the pace,
and began to toss my items into the wind
as I said my piece.
I feel so free
not chained by normalcy,
and now I can throw this away,
letting myself continue this road to my dreams.
So, please just let me go,
just let me go on with my own normal life.
Two messed up souls have found each other
seems like they had to wait a lifetime
choosing to focus their time on themselves
while waiting to find each other,
waiting on fate to intervene.
Two messed up souls dance
enjoying the beat
as it thumps into their feet,
dancing through the living room forgetting about their imperfect moves
time has no place,
clocks have stopped
as these two souls click into harmony.
Curly hair that flows so freely,
as the sun dances upon her skin
kissing it ever so gently
as her soul and heart fly with the wind.
Her heart and soul jump on the waves of the wind
letting it take her where she is needed at that moment in time,
for she is no mere mortal
for she is a daughter of the wind,
daughter of the earth,
daughter of the sea,
she is meant to be wild
not grounded to the pavement with her two feet.
A storm passes through my heart
as thoughts of you fade,
keeping me at the base of the lighthouse
as you drift away.
The soft kisses you once placed on my lips
have drifted in the wind,
just like the touch of your fingers
have slipped away as they stop touching my skin.
My heart feels like it’s caught in the tide
trying to get back to me
as you fly on the waves of the wind into the sky,
leaving me with amnesia.
I found myself in the arms of a woman at three a.m. in the dark,
a thousand times I’ve dreamt of this moment,
wondering what it felt like,
wondering how I would feel
when I see her sleeping next to me,
with the city light outlining her silhouette next to me.
Here I am at three a.m.
wanting to turn on the light,
but not wanting her to wake up,
cause this sight of her makes my heart drop,
for she has stolen my heart,
with just her snuggling up against me and dreaming.
A soul wrapped in a countryside box,
Placed with a bow made of a map on top.
Open the box and you shall see,
The bits and pieces that have scattered about,
Leaving the soul wandering for the rest of its eternity.
Poke some holes into the box,
Let it breathe,
Send it off,
And let the world shape it into who it’s supposed to be.
That is the only way we will ever know,
Who it will be,
Once they’ve reached the ripe age of ninety.
