The snow descended from the mountains
just like the wolves descend upon their prey,
whisking the snowflakes all about,
letting each one go their own way.
The chill in the air grew colder,
rushing all living souls inside their homes,
while the treacherous winds fling about
as we all rush to shelter ourselves from the cold.
Surrounded by the rainforest on one side,
with the mountains on the other,
each one of us braces ourselves,
welcoming the harsh Alaskan winter weather.
I broke all of the rules
got in a car and drove far away
pressed my foot down harder to pick up the pace,
and began to toss my items into the wind
as I said my piece.
I feel so free
not chained by normalcy,
and now I can throw this away,
letting myself continue this road to my dreams.
So, please just let me go,
just let me go on with my own normal life.
In a diner in the middle of nowhere
I’ve found myself listening to the desert wind,
howling and screaming begging to come in
as I stare at the menu trying to select a meal.
Sitting by the window people glance on in,
wondering what could be held inside this old beat up diner
that’s placed in the middle of nowhere.
A lost soul that has been traveling the lonely roads
a broken heart that is in need of some repairs wandered into the middle of nowhere,
looking for a place to call home for the night,
even if it is inside an old beat up diner in the middle of nowhere.
Curly hair that flows so freely,
as the sun dances upon her skin
kissing it ever so gently
as her soul and heart fly with the wind.
Her heart and soul jump on the waves of the wind
letting it take her where she is needed at that moment in time,
for she is no mere mortal
for she is a daughter of the wind,
daughter of the earth,
daughter of the sea,
she is meant to be wild
not grounded to the pavement with her two feet.
I’m worn to the bone,
suffocated by the silence
that you left me in
as I stood in the middle of our home.
Just a stab of lies radiated from your mouth,
with you sitting there with a stoic face,
as tears fill my eyes
and glass broken all over the place.
I’m worn to the bone,
with my heart tearing
all I can do is be grateful that you no longer grace this place,
the place we once called home,
and can finally begin to heal
while I still feel worn out.
I speak the language that only you know,
while the rest of the world tries to decipher,
for it is our hearts that speak the same language.
The words speak the truth of my intentions,
they show that I want to sleep with you forever,
travel the world with you by my side,
and die in your arms.
From this day forward
I make you this promise,
that no matter how far we are apart,
I will send you moonlight kisses
till you are in my arms again.
