Lacuna (Poem)

acdacdacb16c3fc1448e5ee8d539b195
Somewhere deep in my soul
there is something missing,
a piece that has yet been written,
a piece that is missing the notes,
as if a song were unfinished,
as if a poem were cut off mid-sentence,
as if a part of me was missing.
It is not my other half,
for I am not half,
yet, it is a part of me that is whole
just like I was born twenty-six years ago,
all I know is that it is currently blank,
yet, in the back of my mind
it will soon be filled just like the River Thames.

Faith (Poem)

5aab5581821650353a24668950c42619
She was made of broken pieces
ones that were placed together by faith,
faith in herself,
faith in humanity,
faith in the fact that she would never shatter.
Sure, she was terrified that someone might try,
try to shatter her dreams,
shatter the love she bore,
shatter her entire being,
but that didn’t matter,
she still had faith in herself.

Twenty Years From Now (Poem)

ee1959269848f10114e13399ed05d738

Twenty years from now
I want to say that I dropped out of the sky,
twenty years from now
I want to say that I’ve experienced breathtaking sights.
Twenty years from now
I want to say that I wasn’t afraid to move,
that I wasn’t afraid to take chances,
to jump head in
instead of dipping my toes barely in.

Twenty years from now
I want to look back on my life,
with my husband by my side,
and my children on my lap,
telling them I did all of those things
because I wasn’t scared,
because I didn’t dare look back.

Go (Poem)

c2aa4f106f1bcbd4de14138a08e3ba96

Don’t take life so seriously,
Grab your backpack
and run down those halls,
run down to the train station,
to the airport and go.

Go somewhere new,
Go somewhere that you have never been before,
Go somewhere that you have always dreamt of,
because it doesn’t matter how many china sets you own,
or fancy cars in your garage,
all that matters are the memories and adventures
that you create in your life.
So, go.

My Brand New Poetry Book

Good morning everyone! I wanted to apologize for not writing a whole lot, this month has been very hectic due to work, studying for my Master’s, and working on the release of this new poetry book.

Today my brand new poetry book, Hearts of Glass, has been released by my amazing publisher, Middle Island Press. I have been working with the publishing press for the past couple of years, and they are truly amazing. They have given me the opportunity to release my poems out to all of you, and it had always been a dream of mine. I truly cannot thank then enough for letting me see my dream become a reality.

Hearts of Glass is poetry book that dives into the reality of the affairs of the heat. Showcasing just how fragile our hearts are, showcasing when we fall in love, out of love, and endure the most hurtful heartbreaks. And everyone can relate to many of the poems.

You can get your copy of my new poetry book on Amazon, and soon it will be available in select stores around the world.

Welcoming Winter (Poem)

ddc94bb967100bfc070e9c55f609612b
The snow descended from the mountains
just like the wolves descend upon their prey,
whisking the snowflakes all about,
letting each one go their own way.
The chill in the air grew colder,
rushing all living souls inside their homes,
while the treacherous winds fling about
as we all rush to shelter ourselves from the cold.

Surrounded by the rainforest on one side,
with the mountains on the other,
each one of us braces ourselves,
welcoming the harsh Alaskan winter weather.

Normal (Poem)

3b582dca032d7103ca2e16357c288701

I broke all of the rules
got in a car and drove far away
pressed my foot down harder to pick up the pace,
and began to toss my items into the wind
as I said my piece.

I feel so free
not chained by normalcy,
and now I can throw this away,
letting myself continue this road to my dreams.
So, please just let me go,
just let me go on with my own normal life.
